* Howdy, Rogue Classicist readers! Welcome to my (sporadically updated) blog. I have a very small child, a dissertation to deposit in the next few weeks, a household to run and job applications to submit. But I'm also mouthy and opinionated, so you never know what you'll find.

And now for our irregularly scheduled programming.

I am...

Reading
Undone, a spin off of the Weather Wardens series by Rachel Caine. Lightweight, well written fun stuff.

Believe me, when you spend most of your time working on Lucan, you want light and fluffy when the time comes.

Watching

True Blood. I am so addicted to this show it's ridiculous. We canceled our satellite service last month, but luckily one of my best girlfriends has HBO. Plus, it's one of those shows that is considerably more fun with company. Some of my readers would not appreciate the show's aesthetic or attitude. (If you're wondering what I'm talking about, google "True Blood Rolling Stone" and check out that cover.)

It's trash, but it's beautiful trash, and I can't stop watching.

Listening To
Pandora's Ditty Bops channel, which has now led me to the Wailing Jennys. August is made for bluegrass and country/folk. I think because in Indiana, the farmer's market always hosted amazing local musicians. The harvest comes with a banjo, to me.

Creating

My most excellent mother-in-law gave me a stack of scraps from her quilting. Many of them were of the long and skinny variety, so I'm slowly turning them into a rag quilt for The Punk's room. If it's not a horrific disaster, pictures will follow.

Shocked Schicked I say, that you would watch True Blood! It's nothing at all like my own appriciation of Francis Ford Coppolas "Dracula"! It can't even be soncidered as ethically pure as the sociao political commentary of of the Resident Evil franchise--which has new one coming out next month!

Heh--we all gots our guilty pleasures.
